Sunday Wrap-up

Well, I out lasted 4000 people in the Poker Stars Sunday tourney in my first try at the big money. I felt that I played really well all day. I did not get a lot of cards to work with so it was difficult to make some headway.

I had AK suited early on in early position and raised to 4BBs and someone in middle position came over the top all-in for 26 times my bet, which is a really silly bet, and then he showed that he had AA, which was nice of him to show. It was a very easy fold for me. This guy was pretty weak. If a K had flopped or even worse AK he could have gotten my whole stack, but he played it poorly and I only lost 120 chips and I still had about 2700.

Later on I had JJ and raised it to 5BBs after one person the guy above, limped and then one person went all in for 2.3 blinds which was not really a worry. The flop came 3 6 K and I bet out about 1/2 the pot that is when the other guy went all-in which was going to cost me another 900 chips to call, which would leave me with 1300 if I lost, but 3700 if I won. I thought about it for quite a while and then decided to call as I could not put him on any kind of hand that had a K in it, and his bet just seemed really odd to me. He had 46 of diamonds for middle pair. He was bluffing me and he was out of the tournament for his troubles.

I had KK later on and a short stack went all-in which was really nice for about 1400 chips I had about 7500 and I was very happy. He had A2s and proceeded to hit a full house to win. I hovered around 7K bringing it up to 9k for a little while. I drifted down to around 5k and was hovering there when I picked up JJ with the blinds at 300/600 and 30 ante. I pushed all-in and was called by AQ suited and lost as he hit a full house as well. lol All in all not a bad showing for my first big tourney.

I did not do as well in the Party Poker Cadillac Main event. I outlasted about 1/2 the field but couldn't get anything going.

I decided to try and qualify for next Sunday's PS million and played another double shootout tournament. I felt really good about my game and crushed the first table with the help of some really nice cards and flops. My son Noah was visiting and he really was loving seeing the old man wreak havoc on this table. At the second table I took my time and got down to 3 players when we decided that we would chop the remaining prizes, that is divide them equally. So for my $13 entry fee I collected $200. Not a bad capper to the day. Not bad at all.

It was a great day even though I didn't place in the big tourneys. My son got to watch me play and we had a great day socializing while I was playing in the big one's, and then he got to see me win a nice little tourney.
