Well, today was the typical day that I have on RiverStars. It is good for one to have to deal with repeatedly getting beat by people hitting runner runner straits to beat you, or the one time you get a decent hand your opponent suddenly has QQs, that is my favorite that happened twice today. I got beat by the miracle drawouts 3 times today, that was also nice.
It really is sad to see it happen so damn often. I mean come one, I don't care how many hands you have dealt, the odds of a runner runner straight are still the same. No matter how many times I flip a coin it is still 50-50 to be heads or tails, and yet the miracle hands happen all the time on Poker Stars. All the time, I must repeat.
Don't get me wrong, I know that no hand is impervious, but I play a lot and you just get tired of it. I mean, I sit at my screen and call out the exact river card on a high percentage of hands where it will be a huge suckout, especially if someone needs runner runner to win the odds they will hit go up dramatically. It is a shame that no one has all the data that they would need to prove that there is something not quite right with Poker Stars.
When I play on UB or Party Poker, you will see it, but I don't see it nearly as much.

That was a nice heater you went on there with all those first place finishes. Unfortunately I know the pain of losing pair over pair, flopped set to river flush, dominated hands and so forth. I often thought that playing 8 or 16 tables would decrease the variance I would expect from taking beats while playing 1 or 2 tables. It is not the case and once again my current downswing has me pondering if there is something else at work helping to pull me down?
At any rate keep churning out those sngs and keep up the blog!
I almost forgot to ask about the poll on pocket fives. Do you have a link to it? Thanks.
If you call out the cards that you don't want to see, then there is a much higher likelihood of those cards hitting. Trying thinking of, or calling out, the cards that you *do* want. If you're able to truly believe that your cards will come, or that you'll win the hand (read: 'truly' believe)then your chances go up dramatically. Trust me on this.
Check out the research (published in peer-reviewed science journals) of how RNGs (random number generators - which, as you know, are used for poker software) can be influenced by thought. Participants in these studies were able to affect the randomness of the generators in such a way that they produced more of a certain pre-defined numerical output. There was, of course, a control group. (Dean Radin was the lead author)
Bottom-line: positive thinking + positive affect = better results.
Who am I? Just some dude that played a little bit of full ring with you today, and then looked you up on the teh internets.
