Well, I went deep into the deep stack today. I was down to 1600 in chips when I started to make a come back. It was nice. I had AJ and pushed and it folded back to me and I took the limpers chips, then on the next hand I had KK and pushed all in again. This time I got called by AQ who I am sure thought I was out of line. I doubled through him and was on my way.
I want to thank Larry out there for slow playing his aces to me when I had 44, which I limped with. I had several pairs today that I had to fold to big raises and a small stack on my part, which would have hit trips a couple times, but one time I would have lost to a flush. Back to Larry. The flop comes J48 with 2 hearts and he bets out 600, I raise to 1600 and he comes over the top and puts me all in, which I insta-call. I also had the 4 of hearts and another heart came on the turn giving me a flush draw with my set, and just as the river was about to come I said no ace unless it is the Ace of Hearts, which it was and I doubled to 25k and I was in business.
A few hands before I hand increased my stack by about 1/2 when someone called my raise with KJ and called down with a worse kicker than I with KQ. That was nice, then Larry helped me.
I ended up finishing 45th when I had KQs in the SB which I was going to push for the blinds. The UTG limper had a huge stack so I guess I should have suspected something fishy but I pushed and he called with QQ. I figured if I win this pot my stack will be 25% bigger. The flop came QJA giving me a draw which didn't come in, and I was out.
I followed this up with a 3rd in a SNG which was a very competitive game.
All in all a great day. First my NCAA win and then the money's in the tourney's I played.
